What is DACA?
It stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Meaning, you were brought into the country illegally before you had awareness of what was happening or before being able to give consent regarding the decision.
When was DACA passed?
President Barack Obama announced the executive order on June 15, 2012.
What does DACA do?
DACA allows approved individuals to become eligible for work permits for two year period with a chance at renewal upon expiration date. However, DACA does not have a pathway to citizenship.
Difference between DACA and The Dream Act
The Dream Act is an American legislative proposal for a multi-phase process for qualifying alien minors in the United States that would first grant conditional residency and, upon meeting further qualifications, permanent residency.
The The fee to request consideration of deferred action for childhood arrivals, including employment authorization and biometric services, is $495, and cannot be waived. Use our Fee Calculator to help determine your fee.
